The Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 provides the statutory framework for regulating private security agencies with the objective of ensuring professionalism, accountability, and public safety. In the State of West Bengal, the Act is implemented in accordance with the West Bengal Private Security Agencies (Regulations) Rules, 2024.

To strengthen internal security and enhance regulatory oversight, the Home & Hill Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal, is adopting a transparent and technology-driven mechanism for licensing and monitoring private security agencies operating within the State.

The West Bengal Private Security Agencies Licensing Portal is the official single-window digital platform of the Home & Hill Affairs Department for implementation of Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 and the West Bengal Private Security Agencies (Regulations) Rules, 2024. The portal is designed to provide end-to-end online processing of private security agency licences, enabling applicants to submit applications, upload mandatory documents, track verification status, and apply for renewal of licences in a transparent, time-bound, and paperless manner.
