The Police Service Cell of the Home & Hill Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal, deals with service-related matters of officers belonging to the Indian Police Service (IPS) and West Bengal Police Service (WBPS) serving under the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police.
The Police Service Cell processes matters relating to appointment, transfer, and posting of IPS and WBPS officers. It deals with pay-related matters, promotion of officers, and creation of posts.
The Cell examines proposals relating to permission for sale and purchase of movable and immovable property, private and official tours, reimbursement of medical expenses, and grant of leave and LTC.
It handles matters concerning State and Central deputation, confirmation and empanelment of IPS officers, conferment of magisterial powers, pension cases, counting of past service, and re-employment of officers.
The Cell also processes various medal-related matters including Police Medal (PM), President’s Police Medal (PPM), Chief Minister’s Medal, and other service recognitions.
The Police Service Cell is headed by the Senior Special Secretary /Special Secretary and is assisted by the Senior Deputy Secretary, Officer on Special Duty & Ex-Officio, Officer on Special Duty, Section Officer, Head Assistant, Upper Division Assistant, and Lower Division Assistant.
