The Medical Cell of the Home & Hill Affairs Department deals with the processing and disbursement of medical reimbursement claims of officers and staff under the administrative control of the Department, in accordance with the West Bengal Health Scheme and applicable Government Orders.

There are two separate medical cells within the Department, namely the Secretariat Medical Cell and the Police Medical Cell.

The Secretariat Medical Cell process medical reimbursement claims of officers and staff of the Home & Hill Affairs Department. Claims are examined and processed as per the provisions of the West Bengal Health Scheme and applicable Government Orders and guidelines issued by the Medical Cell of the Finance Department from time to time.

The Police Medical Cell deals with medical reimbursement claims of police personnel of the West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police as per the West Bengal Health Scheme and relevant Government Orders. Claims relating to West Bengal Police personnel are received through the office of the Director General of Police, West Bengal, while claims relating to Kolkata Police personnel are received through the office of the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. The Cell examines and process eligible clams in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures.

The Medical is headed by the Senior Special Secretary/Special Commissioner/Special Secretary, supported by the Joint Secretary,Deputy Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Officer on Special Duty, Section Officers, Head Assistants, Upper Division Assistants, Lower Division Assistants and Group D staff.
